Use Source A and your own knowledge to answer this question. (4 marks) The early attitudes of British and German soldiers to the war were immensely supportive. Hundreds of thousands of men eagerly lined up at the enlistment offices in Britain to fight on the Western Front. As Source A outlines, this enthusiastic reaction was largely due to the ignorance of the British people who had little understanding of the nature of modern warfare.
